Week 6 Selectaaah

Posted on 11 February 2013 by admin

week6

Martin Hayes leaves you Breathless.

I LOVE Pool. And I really dig what Vito De Aeroplane is up to at the moment. So all in all a really solid track!

Ever since his splentacular remix of Jakwob’s ‘Electrify’ Sega Bodega has been in my cool book. Here’s his new one! Bow in the dust and behold the mastaaah!

Benedict with the Hammer gets all Italo on you on this playful and sunshiny remix of Mecanico. Love it!

Copenhagen based Furns take on Kings Of Convenience with this cover oozing of heart ache and sorrow. <3

This one escaped my radar. I love Stewrat! Thankfully Rathsman & Perseus were kind enough to share this gem in their Radio 1 mix!

<— Tune of the week!

Nobody does it like Moon Boots! Another schpritzer from the master himself. Strap in!

Erika Spring – HAG (Aeroplane remix)

Posted on 19 August 2012 by admin

Finally Vito De Luca did something cool again. After having gone a lot more to the deep side than I can appreciate, Aeroplane is back at it with this stellar remix.
Fresh, sassy and alluring it swerves and bounces like the hips of a GoGo dancer with a vengeance.

Top 25 tracks of 2011

Posted on 31 December 2011 by admin

25: Andy Fink – Tribute (Camale remix)
Ukranian supertalent Andy Fink gets help from equally gifted Camale. FRESH!

24: Kolombo – Waiting For
Smooth, wickedly sauve and gushing with mellow passion!

23: The Players Union – Stiff Richard (dub)
Nothing could prepare you for Cliff with his skirt down and his ass up. Soooo cheeky!

22: Jeremy Glenn – New Life (Persues ‘Summer Of 83′ remix) (blogged June 27th)
Perseus made quite a tsunami with this phenomenal remix that helped put Jeremy Glenn in mixes by Aeroplane and the likes!

21: Polly Darton – Lowgene (Dr. Luv’s Midnight Mix)
Excepiotnally saucy take on Jolene by boob-legend, Dolly Parton. Swag, loopy and straight outta the deep end!

20: Booka Shade – Regenerate (Russ Chimes remix) (blogged December 20th 2010)
Way off genre wise for me, but this madness really got a hold of me. Cunning!

19: Drop Out City Rockers – International Track
This saw Daft Punk’s cool-factor rise with about 224 % Nobody does what Drop Out’s Gary B does! 2012 will see him taking over the world. Mark my words!

18: Hemingway – Metro

Funky cold Medina is what Tone Loc would say about this track. Me too!

17: Dana Bergquist & Peder G – Can’t Get Enough (Midnight Savari remix)
Dana & Peder had a fantastic year with a wide range of superb releases. Magic really happened when Midnight Savari took the remix duties <3

16: Shit Robot – Take ‘Em Up (John Talabot Remix edit) (blogged December 10th)
Supreme vocal driven monster that was litterally in every set out there at the time! Impressive!

15: Dana Bergquist & Peder G – Daylight
Dana & Peder’s immersive sound creates a universe of its own. This is a heck of a fine example!

14: Aeroplane – Big Boys Don’t Cry (blogged September 16th)
I still don’t get the horns at the begining and in the end, but this emotive and mellow masterpiece said hail to one of the big ones that we lost in 2011. We miss you DJ Mehdi :(

13: Lykke Li – I Follow Rivers (The Magician remix) (blogged February 17th)
Aeroplane broke in two. That left us with a severed Aeroplane and a Magician. I like Stephen’s work a lot. But somehow Aeroplane had it all when the two of them were still collaborating.

12: Moon Boots – Gopher It (blogged August 2nd)
But Stephen’s Magic Tapes brought us stuff like this! How cool is that? Moon Boots surely are on the To Watch List!

11: Hall & Oates – Out Of Touch (Dublin Aunts Darryl’s Home edit)
2011 was THE year for edits. This is a glimmering example! Magic!

10: Satin Jackets – Latin Jackets
Smooth and silky with a hint of deep house and a dash or two of luscious balearic Satin Jackets nailed this one!

9: Korallreven ft. Victoria Bergman – Honey Mine (blogged November 12th)

Swedish dream-poppers Korallreven mesmerized me with this summer filled tune that still to this day sets my in sunshine mood!

8: Oliver – All Night (blogged May 11th)
Tastey like bacon with bacon ontop! Oliver had a stellar year with tons of great, free releases! We LOVE <3

7: Shindu – Happy House (Midnight Savari remix)

Midnight Savari, Kitsuné, dancable 80′ies tinged stomper with a vengeance! Impressively built up and such smooth production skills! Mindblowing!

6: Body Language – Social Studies (Plastic Plates remix)

Felix aka. Plastic Plates is for me the biggest newcomer of 2011. What he does is fresh, new… Winning! Stupendously cool remix, and somehow he keeps topping himself!

5: Todd Terje – Ragysh
This one almost didn’t get finished?!! Terje then went through his “stuffishouldtakeacloserlookat” drawer and plosihed it up. New sound from him for sure. And this really takes him to new heights. Add moaning and you have a new French Kiss anno 2011!

4:  Kamp! – Cairo (Original mix)
Polish band, Kamp! blew us all away with this catchy vocal, pop fused stomper! Incredible!

3: Tesla Boy – In Your Eyes (Satin Jackets remix) (blogged November 20th)
Still unreleased this insanely well produced remix flew straight to my top 3 the moment I heard it. Tim Bernhardt’s Satin Jackets project is its own star in the sky of disco. Epic!

2: The Dead Rose Music Company – Just A Bitter Love (blogged January 8th)
The groove in this one made my mind explode with orgasmic delight. That bass!! <3 <3 <3

1: Adele – Set Fire To The Rain (Plastic Plates remix) (blogged April 24th)

One of the biggest hits on the planet in 2011, and one of the biggest remixes in 2011 too! Plastic Plates blew everyone away and raised the bar for how to remix with 250 %!

Brand Spanking New Aeroplane Track!

Posted on 16 September 2011 by admin

Vito posted this gem on his Soundcloud with this statement:

Hi all,

I’m not good with words. But somehow since Tuesday I couldn’t think right and something needed to get out. Music being the only medium I know how to use, here it is.

It’s called ” Big Boys Don’t Cry “

Once again, my thoughts go out to all my friends who are going through hard times right now.”

The title says it all. Big Boys Don’t Cry.

I Follow Rivers Gets Magic

Posted on 17 February 2011 by admin

Ever since Stefan Fasano left Aeroplane I’ve been a little upset with him. To me the overall sound of Aeroplane has changed since he left, and I wasn’t too impressed with his first achievement on his remix of The Red Kiss

But his remix of Lykke Li’s I Follow Rivers is just mint! Crisp, paino driven italo house at it’s best, with a dash of blue sky. <3<3<3

Dr Kable’s Best of 2010

Posted on 10 January 2011 by admin

I have been contemplating this for quite a while. 2010 was, as for music, one of the finest years since 1987-88. Here’s my list of the best tracks from 2010:

1: Diana Ross & The Supremes – My World Is Empty Without You (Drop Out Orchestra Remix) Stupfyingly mellow, haunting and slick rendtion of this old upbeat classic. What a surprise!

2: Marcos Cabral & SHUX – Lifetime Groove As for edits this one takes the price. I’m heaving a dead hard time believing that it will ever be topped!

3: Drop Out Orchestra – Baby Come Home (Sit On My Ritz) (dub) Drop Out Orchestra probably took up most listening time of any other act for me in 2010. 2011 will see them take on world domination. Mark my words!

4: Washed Out – Belong Lo-Fi, Lo-bit mellow-pop as crunchy as Rice Crispies! Perma-player on my iPod for litterally months!

5: Jamie Woon – Night Air Jamie burst out of nothing for me. Not my style at all, but this track’s production (big ups to Burial) is just up in the skies! Stunning!

6: Steve Reich – Electric Counterpoint III Fast (Röyksopp’s True To The Original Edit) Next to Manuel Göttsching’s E2 E4, this track’s original ranks on top of my all time favs. Röyksopp really saw the soul in this, spiffed it up with Norwegian mellowness and a dash of melancholy. Magical!

7: Florrie – Fascinate Me (Fred Falke Edit) Florrie broke the wall of sound in 2010. She’s the next big thing. Like a hybrid between Madonna, Britney Spears and Pet Shop Boys. Fred produces most of her tracks still, and does a fracking good job!

8: Hi-Brid – Once Around The Golden Block Imagine if The Stranglers met Badly Drawn Boy, one summer day, hung out, and jammed along. This would be the result. Epic!

9: Aeroplane – We Can’t Fly All of a sudden Vito stood alone. The void and uncertainty of what would become of the debut album after Stephan Fasano left wasn’t cool. It turned out that he didn’t do all that much with the album in the first place. To me the album didn’t mark the milestone I had hoped, but We Can’t Fly as a single really took off. Instant summer hit!

10: Marius – Jet Set (Ray Mang Remix) Ray Mang is, after Todd Terje, one of my “never-fail-artists”. Less disco, more melody, still mellow and friendly like all his remixes, really. Awesome!
