Back in 1989 when Black Box blasted onto the scene with their hi-nrg Loleatta Holloway (who died March 21 2011) sample bonanza, they took Italy a step further and reinvented what Italo was all about. Acts like 49′ers, Wood Allen, Capella followed, but none could stand next to what Black Box achieved.
German disco connoisseur Satin Jacket went and reworked the old classic, exploring new depths and pitching it down considerably. Fantacular rework! Check it out:
Usually The Magician blows my mind, and this time is no different. Balearic, House, Disco and Italo in a fun and sun filled blend is what he pours up in his musical cocktail glass. Here’s the Magic Tape # 12!
Opening it all is this gem from Jeremy Glenn in a saucey remix by Perseus. Summer of ’83 indeed!
It’s been two years now since I first heard Classixx rendition of Buzzin’ by Shwayze. For me this is right up there with Laid Back’s Sunshine Reggae and Lovin’ Spoonful’s Summer In The City when it comes to summerishness. Classixx at their peak, if you don’t count their much more hyped remix of Lisztomania by Phoenix <3
Breaks on a stage, breaks on a screen
Breaks to make your wallet lean
Breaks run cold and breaks run hot
Some folks got ‘em and some have not
But these are the breaks
Break it up, break it up, break it up!
Break down!
Real neat edit by splendificous Copycat! Can’t believe it’s been 30 years since I heard the original for the first time! Ride On Time!!
or something to that effect would cover how I feel about today’s little gem. I’ve never been fond of R & B, and Alicia Keys doesn’t hit it with me, but when I first listened to this edit, out of pure curiosity, it struck a chord in me. Just a little distorted, yet clean like water in a quiet brook is how I would describe this edit. Bee-Juh-Tee-Full! Check out more Chad Valley edits and info here.
