Back in the 80′ies one man sat ontop of pops. The king on the throne was Dieter Bohlen. He grew up in a suburb of Oldenburg, Niedersachsen. He started his musical carreer as Steve Benson, coining the song Don’t Throw My Love Away, which was follwed by two other singles. None of them reached the top 100, and Bohlen decided to stop the Steve Benson project. Around 1983 he met singer Thomas Anders, and it was soon obvious that the two had struck gold, creatively. They formed Modern Talking and they would dominate pop culture in Europe for a decade. Today especially the vocals seem forced and cheesey, but trust me: They were pure gold back then.

Today’s share is something of a rarity. An instrumental version of their huge hit, Brother Louie, from 1986. Golden!

The Drop Outs, as we reported earlier, did an astonishing remake of Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up. Not only did they respiff, rehash and rework the whole damn thing, they actually added to one of the hugest 80′ies classics in a way that defies the laws of physics! Cowabunga!

We absolutely loved RAC’s remix of Holy Ghost!’s Static On The Wire. This time around they wrap their arms around Empire Of The Sun’s Walking On A Dream. They once again deliver a semi-80′ies rehashed sound slice, all juicey yet crunchy at the same time. Tastey!
